Mental Health Advocacy
Mountain View United Church lives out its commitment to nurturing communities of inclusion and belonging by advocating at local, state, and federal levels to end mental health stigma and ensure access to mental health and substance use professional services. We do this by participating in NAMIWalks Colorado,- supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and doing legislative advocacy in partnership with NAMI and Mental Health Colorado. Each Spring, the congregation engages in legislative advocacy through its Letters for Lent campaign. Members share their support for bills that ensure mental health parity and increased access to mental health and care, particularly for marginalized groups, such as communities of color, LGBTQIA youth, immigrants, and refugees.
